BOOK SUMMARY
In a not-so-distant future, America is de facto ruled by pop superstar and porn icon Cathy Carlson who yoga poses online in nothing but a gas mask, as she threatens to bang the country into the super sexiest nuclear war ever. Meanwhile, misanthropic, and perpetually unemployed, Sadie Kaussman goes about the daily grind, desperately hoping to break free from this modern joke of a world. When Sadie is hired at Nvision, an unknown advertising company, she soon begins to wonder, is her new boss just another mindless drone or an iconoclastic hero, who may actually offer her a whole lot more than just another résumé bullet or CV line. But as they attempt the great escape, she finds that maybe the more you try to resist society, the more you become a product of it...literally? |
Veronica Abrams: Bio
Night Vision was a finalist for the St. Lawrence Book Award from Black Lawrence Press, the Tatterhood Review novel excerpt contest, and a semifinalist for the Uncharted Novel excerpt contest.
My short stories have appeared in publications such as BlazeVOX, Menacing Hedge, and Arcturus (from The Chicago Review Of Books). I was also a finalist for the 2018 Flexible Persona's Editors' Prize and my debut short story was a 2016 South Carolina Carrie McCray Memorial Award winner. Additionally, in 2022 I wrote and directed a short musical, Another Wild World, featuring 80's pop star, Tina B. I hold a Master's degree in Creative Arts in Learning and am the founder and managing editor of Zerowell Books & Zerowell Literary Magazine (a partnership of Zerowell Records). My writing takes a satirical look at all the bullshit of our modern day society often with a speculative fiction slant. |
